Genius Jerky was founded by Richard Plebuch in 2012, based out of Lovettsville, VA. Plebuch has long held an affinity for the culinary arts and in 2009 began pefecting recipes for jerky.

After raising funds through a Kickstarter campaign in 2016, Genius Jerky has been selling in markets throughout Virginia and Maryland, as well as from its own website.

This South Korean BBQ beef jerky is described by the company as, "Sweet and smoky with a hint of warmth", going on to say that it pays homage to traditional Korean Street BBQ with, "...notes of honey, garlic, soy, and sesame".

This Honey Habanero beef jerky is marketed as using New Zealand grass-fed beef, grade A honey, real habaneros, and Himalayan pink salt. They describe it as, "sweet start and a long lasting umami flavor soon become victim to the habaneros grasp".

The two were inspired to create a line of jerky whose sales benefited the team at War Horses for Veterans, a charity that helps wounded service men and women through experiences with horses.

"Healing those who have been in combat is not just an intention, it is our mission,” says Vargas. “We’ve created a great product to serve the best people we know. Freedom Jerky supports and hires veteran families with a focus on our community."

This "Foxhole Fire" is described by the company as, "turns up the heat with a special blend of spices", going on to say that it's, "a spicy jerky with a well-balanced natural beef flavor".

Dundalk Dan's claims their jerky is made in small batches and hand trimmed, and then marinated for 3 days.

This "Habanero" variety is described by the company as being, "hot, but not too hot", and inspired by their fans asking for a jerky a little more spicy than their famous Sriracha Style.

Shiner's Stash Jerky is a brand launched by Swen Altis, based out of Conover, NC. Marketed with the tagline, "Made in the foothills of North Carolina", Altis started Shiner's Stash in 2016 after a successful career as an executive chef, working in professional sports for major league baseball teams, hockey teams, and football teams.

Shiner's Stash uses 100% Prime Beef Eye-Round & Pork Loin, sliced thick and cut against the grain. They make all their jerky themselves, in their own USDA inspected facility, as opposed to contracting it out to a co-packer. They currently have 19 varieties of beef and pork jerky.

This Sweet Mesquite BBQ is described by company as, "a perfect blend of Sweet BBQ sauce, spices, & smoked mesquite wood flavor", going on to say it pairs well with a smooth Scotch Whiskey or Sweet Tea with Lemon.

This "Meat" The Reaper is described by Uncle Bo as being the same as his "Holy Hot Habanero", but with Carolina Reaper chiles, currently the hottest chiles in the world. "This one walks a very tight line between flavor and heat" says Bo.
