Mike's Jerky is a brand of Old World Beef Company based out of Albuquerque, NM. The company was started by Mike and Brenda Grier in 2008. The couple had been making jerky for many years and were always told that they ought to go into business selling it, except they were already busy running an RV dealership. But when the bad economy hit, their dealership went out of business, and that cleared the way for them to start Old World Beef Company.

Jeff's Famous Jerky - Sweet Lemon Pepper Bacon

Jeff's Famous Jerky recently launched a line of Bacon Jerky, with their latest flavor being this Sweet Lemon Pepper. See the previous review of his Honey Jalapeno Bacon Jerky.

Jeff's Famous Jerky is led by Jeff Richards of Mission Viejo, CA. Jeff has been making beef jerky since the 1970s. His love for cooking took him into the restaurant business for over 20 years. In 2006 he started working on creating his own beef jerky brand, and just last year saw the launch of his new company.

This Sweet Lemon Pepper Bacon Jerky is described as having been 5-years in the making, said to be crisp like real bacon but without all the grease.

Jimmy's Sticky Jerky - Sweet Turkey

Jimmy's Sticky Jerky recently launched a new line of Turkey Jerky, with two flavors available, Sticky Sweet and Sticky Heat. The company sent me their Sticky Sweet for review.

It's also worth noting that they increased their package sizes from 2.2oz to 2.5oz, but kept the prices the same.

Jimmy's Sticky Jerky launched in September 2012, the creation of Jim Nielsen, based out of Hermosa Beach, CA. Nielsen claims his love for jerky goes back to when he was just a fetus, and his mother had been snacking on the stuff while she was pregnant. Just 10 years ago, he started making his own jerky, and until recently, was encouraged to go into business.

zGnawjaw is a new beef jerky brand that launched last year, based out of York, PA. It's the concept of Eric Farrington, who had been making deer jerky most of his life. When he settled on a recipe that he really liked, he transferred it to beef. When he decided to make a business out of jerky, Farrington built a 1,000 square foot dehydration building dubbed, "the beef morgue".

This Cajun variety is said to have enough heat to wake up your tongue with layers of flavor through and through.

Gnawjaw Beef Jerky - Sweet

Gnawjaw Premium Beef Jerky, LLC is a new beef jerky brand that launched last year, based out of York, PA.

It's the concept of Eric Farrington, who had been making deer jerky most of his life. When he settled on a recipe that he really liked, he transferred it to beef. When he decided to make a business out of jerky, Farrington built a 1,000 square foot dehydration building dubbed, "the beef morgue".

This Sweet variety is said to be easy eating, tender with a slight BBQ initial flavor, followed up by a salty tang. It's thus far, Gnawjaw's best seller.

Astig Jerky - Spicy Tocino

Astig Beef Jerky is a newer beef jerky brand founded in August 2012 by Michael J Robin based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Making the claim that it's the first beef jerky company made with traditional Filipino recipes sold in the United States, Astig Beef Jerky is made with USDA approved grain fed beef. The name "Astig" is a Tagalog word meaning "cool", "badass" or "kickass".

This Spicy Tocino variety is described the company as "traditional Philippine tocino", but with a kick, taking the original recipe that blends pineapple, banana ketchup, brown sugar, lemon lime soda, and an added spice.

Dave smokes all of his jerky from USDA certified bottom round in a homemade smoke house using maple, oak, and fruit woods, and sells it locally in some shops and on his eBay store.
