Wilderness Jerky Outlet - Cherry Maple Smoked Beef

wilderness jerky outletNext up in the series on Wilderness Jerky Outlet is this Cherry Maple Smoked Beef. See last week's review of their plain Smoked Beef.

Wilderness Jerky Outlet is a brand of Wilderness Jerky Outlet, Inc. of St. Johns, MI. It's an actual store where you walk in and buy a variety of smoked meats including jerky, meat sticks, sausages, smoked salmon, and a few other things. But they also have a website where you can buy their products online.

The company claims to trace its origins from a single line of beef jerky available at "Beck's Farm Market" back in 1959.

As of today, many of their jerky products are manufactured by Michigan Brands, Inc., a company that seems to make jerky for a lot of other Michigan-based jerky companies. You can read my prior reviews of Bulk Beef Jerky and Bruce's Jerky, both of which were made by them.

Longview Beef Jerky - Canadian Maple

longview beef jerkyNext in the series on Longview Beef Jerky is this Canadian Maple variety. See my previous reviews of their Original and Sweet Chili beef jerky.

Longview Beef Jerky is a Canadian brand of jerky manufactured by Longview Meat & Merchandise Ltd., based out of Longview, Alberta. They've been making jerky for the past 30 years using Canada-raised cattle.

This Canadian Maple beef jerky is perhaps their signature variety, made using real Canadian Maple syrup.

Harrington's of Vermont Beef Jerky - Maple

Harrington's of Vermont Beef JerkyNext up in the series on Harrington's of Vermont, is this Maple Beef Jerky variety. See my previous review of their Original Beef Jerky.

Harrington's of Vermont is a brand of Harrington's of Vermont, Inc., based out of Richmond, VT. The brand has been around since 1873, known mostly for its hams and smoked meats. They also offer cheeses, syrups, and desserts.

Their beef jerky appears to have been manufactured by Rosie's Vermont Beef Jerky. I've never had Rosie's, so I can't say if this actually tastes the same. I don't know if Harrington's is private labeled from Rosie's, or if Rosie's is making a unique recipe for Harrington's.

Jack Link's Ham Jerky

Jack Link's Ham JerkyWhen Jack Link's came out with ham jerky I thought it was a bit of an oxymoron, being that ham is already cured, salted, and smoked. All you had to do was take a perfectly good slice of ham, and dry it out.

But that wouldn't be following in the brand's reputation for soft and tender jerky. So I was always curious about it. I finally got a chance to pick up a bag at a local Wal-Mart and try it out.
